Yes, there are driving bans in France and Germany that apply mainly to trucks and heavy transport. These driving bans are in effect during weekends, holidays and specific periods of high traffic density. These measures are designed to reduce traffic congestion and accidents.
France
In France, a general driving ban applies on all roads from 10 p.m. the previous day until 10 p.m. that Sunday or holiday for vehicles or vehicle combinations with a maximum authorized mass exceeding 7.5 tons.
Germany
InGermany, a general driving ban for vehicles or vehicle combinations with a maximum permissible mass exceeding 7.5 tons applies on Sundays and public holidays between 00:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Driving and rest periods are legally defined periods during which truck drivers are allowed to drive and rest. These rules are designed to increase road safety and prevent driver fatigue. European regulations allow drivers to drive a maximum of 9 hours per day, with a weekly limit of 56 hours. In addition, specific rest periods are prescribed, such as daily rest of at least 11 consecutive hours.
The responsibility for complying with driving and rest periods lies with the carrier and the driver. Customers are not directly responsible for complying with these times. However, it is important for customers to be aware of these rules as they can affect deliveries. Customers are encouraged to have realistic expectations regarding delivery times and consider the need for drivers to comply with legal driving and rest periods.
One of our key carbon-neutral solutions is the use of HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) as fuel. HVO is an advanced biofuel produced from renewable resources such as vegetable oils and animal fats. What makes HVO so interesting is that it reduces CO2 emissions by 85-90%, making it an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional diesel fuel.
